Building a library to store documents of the gas industry
To meet the increasing growth needs of Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, the Board of Directors at PV GAS and the Vung Tau city People's Committee have approved the implementation of the Archive, Library, Office and Ancillary Works Construction Project at PV GAS headquarters - 101 Le Loi, Vung Tau city. Recently, Petrovietnam Gas Vungtau Processing Company has hosted the project’s Groundbreaking Ceremony.
PV GAS headquarters in Vung Tau city - 101 Le Loi is one of the largest and most beautiful working campus in the city. This is a complex of architectural and landscape works built during the French colonial period. However, more than 100 years after the operation, in spite of being maintained and embellished regularly, the building is still inevitably degraded, and some items cannot meet the development needs. For the library, the existing warehouse in use is the level 4 building with a nearly 1,300-square-meter area, including the common library of PV GAS, the private library and the warehouse of 3 units. Currently, this building has been seriously degraded, had a very humid environment, and failed to meet the working requirements after more than 30 years in use. On the other hand, with the increasing demand for document storage of PV GAS, the library has no capacity.
The new work is a connected building which is located behind the existing main building; taking advantage of the vacant land, without losing the spacious landscape on the front side with the view of Le Loi Street. Implemented with the main goal of replacing the old degraded library and archive, the project is an important work as a part of the 101 Le Loi master plan with a 1,265-square-meter construction area; the total floor area covers 2,530 m2, designed into two floors. The first floor includes a library of 3 PV GAS units which are working here, function rooms and a small storage room. The 2nd floor is designed with one large storage room, one large meeting room and the librarian's office.
It is expected to be put into use in November 2023.
