PV GAS with three youth union works recognized at high level in 2014
In 2014, PV GAS Youth Union has been honored to receive the recogniztion of Central Business Division Youth Union for the three youth union works at Division Youth Union level, concluding: Upgrade of Dao Su Tich road at Phuoc Kien Commune, Nha Be District where PV GAS’ head office is stationed; detailed design of drawings - NCS-GPP Dinh Co supplementary wet gas supply project carried out by PV Gas Project Management Company Youth Union grassroots; recalculation of maximum permitted free span length for PM3 - Ca Mau works according to DNV RP F105 carried out by the members of Ca Mau Gas Company Branch of Youth Union.
PV GAS is always rated as one of the leading members of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group in raising initiatives, practical application to working activities, saving valuable currency for PV Gas as well as the nation. In 2013, members of PV GAS Youth Union alone had 73 initiatives (out of the total 90 initiatives throughout PV Gas). It is praiseworthy that the youth union members demonstrate their roles in the development of PV GAS in particular and Oil and Gas Industry in general.
Under the guidance of Central Business Division Youth Union and Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, from the very beginning of 2014, PV GAS Youth Union Executive Board provided information and instructions to the Youth Union grassroots on the deployment of youth union works and tasks (YUW) according to the plan and targets, encouraging creative working, initiative and innovation, effective and state-of-the-art solutions in production activities. Up to present, PV GAS Youth Union has over 40 YUWs in various levels registered by the Youth Union grassroots for implementation. Many YUWs have been completed and duly recognized. Among them, three typical YUWs are officially recognized at Central Business Division Youth Union level, one at PetroVietnam Youth Union level and ten at PV GAS Youth Union level.
The first YUW initiated by PV GAS Youth Union Executive Board is “Upgrade of Dao Su Tich road at Phuoc Kien Commune”, Nha Be District where PV GAS’ head office is stationed. This work is valuable in terms of social security, closely associated with the new rural construction program. Realizing that Dao Su Tich, one of local roads severely damaged and heavily flooded by rains or high tides, caused countless difficulties for the households living in the area, PV Gas Youth Union worked with Phuoc Kien Commune Youth Union (Nha Be District) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport Student Association on the implementation of road construction, upgrading works.
The upgrade facilitates the households living along the road in their daily travelling and activities, resolving traffic and pollution issues caused by rising water, contributing to convennience of the people’s life.
In addition, the works has left a good impression on the local residents, improving the relation between PV GAS and the local authority, contributing to the good image of the PETROVIETNAM trademark.
Thanks to the good cooperation with Phuoc Kien Commune Youth Union and local authority, the work was completed according to the plan. This also demonstrates the close and efficient cooperation between PV GAS Youth Union and Nha Be District Youth Union.
The second YUW is “Detailed design of drawings - NCS-GPP Dinh Co supplementary wet gas supply project” carried out by PV Gas Project Management Company Youth Union grassroots. This is an important component of the master project of supplying supplementary wet gas to GPP Dinh Co Plant to ensure wet gas supply from Nam Con Son Basin to compensate for the declined gas volume of Cuu Long Basin, contributing to the stability of gas supply for Phu My Gas-Electricity-Urea Industrial Zone and of the national energy security and gas supply resources for Phu My fertilizer plant. Furthermore, the project also helps speed up the gas transport brought onshore from NCS Basin, supporting the effective operations of Dinh Co Gas Processing Plant and increasing the value of NCS gas product through recovery of LPG and condensate.
This YUW has benefited the Company with nearly VND 9 billion thanks to outsourcing not required. In addition, it was also an opportunity for the Youth Union members to develop the creativeness at work, raising the sense of responsibilities, boosting the confidence and dedication spirit in production.
The third YUW is “Recalculation of maximum permitted free span length for PM3 - Ca Mau construction works according to DNV RP F105” carried out by the members of Ca Mau Gas Company Office Youth Union Branch. By researching materials on the calculation of free span length in PM3 - Ca Mau project, the group of authors have found that the specifications used for work calculation during the design phase were not in accordance with DNV RP F105 (the standard for calculation of maximum permitted free span length for PM3 - Ca Mau works). The selection of these improper specifications affected the the maximum permitted free span length, leading to impact on the integrity of the pipeline system. Meanwhile, costs for any works relating to the marine pipeline are very expensive.
With this YUW, the group of authors have provided the calculation results on maximum permitted free span length for PM3 - Ca Mau works in conformity with practical conditions and satisfactory to DNV RP F105. These results serve as scientific basis, helping save tens of VND billions in repairing expenses for 38 free span points.
The group of authors have inspected and detected some inconsistencies of the design result as compared to the operation conditions of the works in practice. The remedy of such inconsistencies in the design step would improve the safety and optimize the repair and maintenance costs.
In general, the implementation of youth union works and tasks is opportunities for the youth union members to develop their creativity at work, improving their sense of responsibilities, motivating their spirit for work and production. Besides, the social security YUWs help promote the responsibility sense of each youth union member for the community, improving the volunteers’ spirit and living for the community.
On the occasion of business trip to PV GAS, Mr. Ho Xuan Truong, the Secretary of Central Business Division Youth Union, has awarded the signboard of youth union works at Central Business Division Youth Union level in 2014 for “Upgrade of Dao Su Tich Road” at Phuoc Kien Commune, Nha Be District carried out by PV GAS Youth Union.
