PV GAS delivers support to northern residents affected by Super Typhoon Yagi
Typhoon Yagi, which recently struck the northern provinces of Vietnam, was one of the most powerful super typhoons in decades, leaving devastating consequences. According to updates from the Vietnam News Agency by 5 PM on September 16, the typhoon had resulted in 329 deaths and missing incidents, 1,922 injuries, and over 236,000 homes destructed or damaged, along with 667 dike breaches. Many roads, schools, and public facilities were severely affected, and hundreds of thousands of hectares of rice and crops were flooded, causing property damages amounting to tens of trillions of VND.

With a high hope to support those affected by Super Typhoon Yagi in Northen Vietnam, Petrovietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) gathered support from its employees and units in response to the call from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front through a campaign titled “Joining Hands to Support Northern Residents Overcoming Difficulties from Super Typhoon Yagi”.
As of September 20, 2024, the Corporation had funded over 2 billion VND.

To timely provide assistance to the affected residents, PV GAS teams joined delegations from Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) to visit and support heavily impacted provinces, including Lao Cai, Nam Đinh, Lai Chau, and Son La. PV GAS and Petrovietnam expressed great care and commitment to accompany these provinces in overcoming the aftermaths of the Typhoon. Contributions from PV GAS were allocated to address essential needs for the people and the nation.

Simultaneously, PV GAS donated 300 million VND in response to Ba Ria – Vung Tau Fatherland Front’s call for donation to support residents affected by Typhoon No. 3, embodying its the cultural values of Responsibility and Sharing among oil and gas workers, along with the spirit of solidarity and empathy for the people of northern provinces.
PV GAS wishes to not only express the compassion and social responsibility of oil and gas industry workers but also reinforce the solidarity and connection within the PV GAS units in assisting those in need during times of hardship. Previously, PV GAS has frequently taken the lead in community support initiatives, particularly in helping those affected by natural disasters and diseases. This commitment is a crucial part of the Corporation's sustainable development strategy, contributing to the overall progress of the country.
