With approximately 90 thousand hectares of U Minh Ha forest and island clusters within the province, Ca Mau is the locality with the largest area of mangrove and brackish forests in the Mekong Delta region. During the dry season, with prolonged hot weather, the fire warning level in this area is always high. Nevertheless, Ca Mau has rarely experienced forest fires for many consecutive years. This achievement is the result of the coordination between units and localities in mobilizing people to participate in forest protection, as well as in implementing forest fire prevention and fighting activities.
Forest management, protection, and development have been identified as one of the top political tasks and the responsibility of party committees, organizations, and local authorities in forested areas. As one of the large enterprises with social responsibility in the region, Petrovietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS), represented in the Southwest region by PV GAS CA MAU, has consistently participated in and supported the province's forest protection programs. The company regularly engages in and coordinates the organization of professional training courses.
From February 10 to 12, 2025, at U Minh Ha National Park, the Provincial Forest Protection Department coordinated with the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department of Ca Mau Province to organize a professional training course on forest fire prevention and fighting for 2025. This is the earliest activity implemented in the forest fire prevention and fighting plan for this year's dry season."
