PV GAS donates VND 1 billion to Vietnam Coast Guard and Vietnam Fisheries Resources Surveillance
Implementing the guidance of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and PetroVietnam’s Trade Union, on May 16th, 2014, PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation has launched activities on raising funds to support Vietnam Coast Guard and Vietnam Fisheries Resources Surveillance forces - the pioneers on duties of around-the-clock protection of our counrty’s territorial waters and sovereignty, helping the Vietnam petroleum industry fulfill its missions in petroleum search, exploration and production.
In the course of task performance, Vietnam Coast Guard and Vietnam Fisheries Resources Surveillance have been provoked with high tension in the sea under Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone by Chinese vessels ramming and firing water cannons, causing damage to many vessels, equipment and injuries to many officers and soldiers.
With the solidarity spirit for protection of Vietnam’s sea and islands and in an effort to promptly support and encourage the patrol forces at seas performing their field tasks, PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation and its Trade Union have called on PV Gas’ personnel to raise funds for support.
Within only one week (May 16 to May 21, 2014), 3,443 PV GAS’ employees at 17 associated trade unions altogether responded to the program, enthusiastically contributing to support the sons sacrificing their lives for the nation. The funds were VND 630 million in total. PV Gas and its Trade Union decided to add to the fund up to VND 1 billion out of its welfare fund.
At the same time, PVN’s campaign has attracted the response of over 55 thousand employees of Vietnam Oil and Gas Industry domestic and overseas. Up to May 22, all workers in Vietnam Oil and Gas Industry have raised the funds worth VND 30 billion to donate Vietnam Coast Guard and Vietnam Fisheries Resources Surveillance.
