Top leaders visited and worked at PV GAS
In the past few days, PV GAS and other petroleum units in the South have honorably welcomed top level delegations which are on visiting and working at the subsidiaries of PetroVietnam.
On July 28th, 2014, the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Vu Van Ninh, together with a task force of the Government visited and worked at Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Urea Project Complex located in Khanh An Commune, U Minh District, Ca Mau Province.
After 10 years of construction and operation, Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Urea Project Complex has introduced its products to the market, contributing to the socio-economic development in Mekong River Delta in general and Ca Mau in particular with very impressive results: From the commercial operation start-up until the end of December 2013, gas production from PM3 field reached over 9 billion m3; electricity output connected to the national grid was nearly 44 billion kWh; granular urea production was over 1.6 million tons.
In which, Ca Mau Gas Project has gas design capacity of 2 billion m3/year, total investment capital of 4,573 billion dong (299.37 million USD), and receives gas from PM3 field. Total length of the pipeline is 325 km, including 298 km offshore and 27 km on-shore. Ca Mau Gas Project was input into operation from 2007 and until now has continuously and stably supplied over 10 billion m3 of gas to serve Ca Mau Power Plants No. 1 and No. 2 and Ca Mau Urea Plant; its accrued total revenue was over 34,700 billion dong.
Ca Mau Power Plants No. 1 and No. 2 have total design capacity of 1,500 MW, total investment capital of 14,049 billion dong (883.43 million USD), and the capacity to supply over 8 billion KWh/year. The project was completed and brought into operation in December 2008 supplying 48 billion KWh, contributed to timely cope with the shortage of electricity nationwide, and reached total revenue of over 72,000 billion dong.
Ca Mau Urea Plant (PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Company Limited - PVCFC) has design capacity of 800,000 tons/year and, after 2 years of operation, supplied over 1.7 million tons of urea for national agricultural production, and achieved total revenue of over 13,800 billion dong. Especially, this project has a final cost estimation of 700 million USD, or 200 million USD less than the original planned estimation.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son - Chairman of the Members’ Council of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group - noted that: until now, Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Urea Project Complex has operated stably, contributed to change the appearance of regional economy, made an annual contribution of over 50% of provincial budget of Ca Mau, as well as tens of billion dong for social security purpose. The project has affirmed the correct guidance of the Party and State in cooperating with neighboring countries to exploit and effectively use natural gas resources from PM3-CAA, Hoa Mai, Cai Nuoc fields, etc.; creating incentives for socio-economic development and growth, promoting the shift of economic structure of Mekong Delta region; offering jobs, improving and generating stable income for the national and local state budgets; as well as contributing to the assurance of energy and food security for the country; and reducing the dependence on foreign-imported fertilizers.
The delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister also visited Ca Mau Gas Distribution Center. Among the delegation guide, there were the representative of PVN, Mr. Le Nhu Linh, Chairman of the Board and representative of the Board of Management of PV GAS. The Deputy Prime Minister listened to the report by Mr. Tran Nhat Huy, Director of KCM, giving an introduction about Ca Mau PM3 gas project and the future development of gas sector in the Southwestern region.
On August 1st, the task force of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) led by the Chairman of the Members’ Council, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, had a business meeting with its Southern subsidiaries.
Among the deputies following the Chairman of the Members’ Council of PVN, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, there were members of the Members’ Council, Board of Management, Heads of Departments of the Group, etc. On that day, the task force visited and had a business meeting at the office of PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS), PetroVietnam Engineering Corporation (PVE), Vietsovpetro Joint Venture, and Well Drilling and Repairing Factory of Vietsovpetro Joint Venture.
At the office of PV GAS, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son received the warm greetings from the whole management and staff of PV GAS on the event that he recently became the highest leader of Vietnam Oil and Gas sector. At the meeting, The President and CEO of PV GAS reported to the task force of PVN on results of business activities in the first 7 months of 2014, orientations to accomplish the plan for 2014, and project implementation orientations in the upcoming time. By utilizing the opportunities, taking synchronous measures and solutions to promote the development, aggressive determination and focus on directing and managing, and united spirit of the whole staff and management of PV GAS, in the first 7 months of the year, PV GAS has accomplished and exceeded most of planned criteria approved by the Group. The operation of safety, health, environment, and security inspection has been promoted. Gas systems and production facilities operate safely and there is no accident or problem that causes any impact on the employees, properties and reputation of PV GAS.
In the last 5 months of 2014, PV GAS sets its objectives to operate gas systems safely; to review the preparation and conduct the repair and maintenance work during gas supply stopping time in July for Ca Mau gas system, and in September 2014 for Cuu Long gas system, to ensure the safety and minimize gas supply stopping time; to submit the development strategy of PV GAS up to 2015 with orientation to 2035 for approval; and, to complete the overall development model for Vietnam gas industry and gas business mechanism for the Corporation.
The Chairman of the Members’ Council of PVN, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, highly regarded the over-accomplishment of operating activities in the first 7 months of 2014; and he also appraised correct actions and steps taken on daily and long-run business as the intermediate steps for surpassing the overall criteria and plan of the unit and Group.
The Chairman of the Members’ Council of PVN, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, noted that the leaders of PV GAS and relevant departments of the Group should speed up the progress of approving the Gas Industry Development Strategy in the coming time and key projects of Gas industry; set up close relationships and cooperation within the whole industry to bring Gas industry toward sustainable and effective development, offering more benefits to the country, Group, Industry and relevant units and provinces.
