PV GAS launches Lung Say Bridge - The bridge connecting shores happily
Leaders of the Trade Union at Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) and Petrovietnam Gas Projects Management Company (PV GAS PMC), Petrovietnam Gas Ca Mau company (PV GAS CAMAU) jointly held successfully the launching ceremony of Lung Say Bridge in Tan Hiep Loi B Hamlet, Tan Duc Commune, Dam Doi District, Ca Mau Province. This is one of the PV GAS social welfare programs.
Lung Say Canal in Tan Hiep Loi hamlet, Tan Duc commune is the waterway leading to Lung Say primary school. Nearly 80 households live there and cross it daily. To cross the canal, local residents still have to use boats, canoes or a degraded monkey bridge, which is the traditional, handmade, wood or bamboo walkway built across rivers or gullies in Vietnam. With the inconveniences in traveling in the dry season, local residents cannot use boats; In the rainy season, the water hikes again, causing dangers in traveling.
To help local residents and students here go to school, and facilitate traffic, the commune’s government has conducted a survey to build the bridge, but it has faced the difficulty in budget and no capital to invest in construction.
Responding to the call of the People's Committee in Dam Doi district to ask the sponsors to fund the construction on bridge, PV GAS Trade Union and its affiliated grassroots trade sub-unions including PV GAS PMC Trade Sub-union and PV GAS CAMAU Trade Sub-union have agreed to fund this project. The bridge crossing Lung Say Canal (also known as Kenh Ba bridge) was built within 3 months, with a total cost of nearly VND 450 million. The new bridge is more than 30m long, 3m wide, with a tonnage of up to 2.5 tons.
Following the volunteer journey, besides the launching of the bridge crossing Lung Say Canal, PV GAS also gave away local families with financial difficulty 100 gifts.
Representative of the sponsors, Mr. Tran Xuan Thanh sincerely shared the joy with the local people and authorities, affirming that Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation is one of the key units at the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group with many positive contributions to social welfare work, especially in Ca Mau Province, where the country’s South Pole Gas project is located. Social welfare programs of PV GAS and its affiliates - members are all respectful contributions to the community, upholding the spirit of Petrovietnam Culture and PV GAS Culture.
