PV GAS’ Breakthrough Efforts to Bring LNG into Vietnam
In the near future, PV GAS will inaugurate the 1 MMTPA Thi Vai LNG Terminal, marking a milestone when the very first LNG complex in Vietnam coming into operation.
A Breakthrough in Constructing Largest, Most Modern, and Safest LNG Terminal in Vietnam
Located in Cai Mep Industrial Zone, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, PV GAS' Thi Vai LNG Terminal, whose investor is PV GAS, was constructed by the Consortium of Samsung C&T and PTSC. Later on, the terminal underwent successful commissioning and now has been ready to come online. The complex features a LNG storage tank with a capacity of 180,000m3 and a throughput of 1 MTPA in phase 1, a truck loading station, Thi Vai- Phu My pipeline, and Thi Vai Low-pressure Gas Distribution Station. Moreover, the terminal can receive and handle LNG vessels weighing up to 100,000 tons.
Thi Vai LNG Terminal is strategically located along the bustling maritime route of Cai Mep – Thi Vai
With the majority of materials and equipment imported from leading LNG, meticulous attention to every detail has transformed Thi Vai LNG Terminal into the largest, modern, and safest port facility in Vietnam. The entire system has been confirmed to meet all domestic and international standards, as well as safety operation requirements. In light of that, it has received high praise from LNG majors, affirming its level of excellence and reliability.
This development marks a significant breakthrough in Vietnam's energy sector, not only paving the way for energy transition but also contributing to national energy security. Thi Vai LNG Terminal has officially made its mark on the global LNG map.
Leading the way for green energy
With the operationalization of Thi Vai LNG Terminal, PV GAS Vung Tau Terminal will become a valuable asset, ensuring a sustainable supply of re-gas LNG for existing customers, as well as potential customers and power plants, and offset part of the domestic gas shortage starting from 2024 onwards.
The largest LNG storage tank in Vietnam to date
In addition to investing in the 1 MMTPA Thi Vai LNG Terminal, PV GAS has been looking into Son My LNG Terminal project with an expected total capacity of up to 10 MTPA. As a result, PV GAS' LNG infrastructure will fundamentally meet the energy needs of the Southern region in the future.
PV GAS is diligently working to realize its strategic plan, including the 1 MMTPA Thi Vai LNG Terminal, Son My LNG Terminal project, and a LNG terminal project in the Northern region. With thorough and meticulous investments, this LNG series is expected to enable PV GAS to demonstrate its market responsiveness, serving as a lever to achieve its regional and global goals.
