Participants took the competition seriously
The 2024 Firefighter Sports Competition was a key initiative to enhance awareness of firefighting and rescue operations. This competition provided an opportunity for the Corporation to assess the technical and tactical capabilities of it Units’ firefighting teams in handling potential fire and explosion incidents at facilities.
The competition attracted 79 contestants from eight teams representing PV GAS units actively engaged in its gas production and facility operations. The two main categories were: Rescue victims in confined spaces and the 2x100m obstacle and relay race for extinguishing a gasoline tray fire.
The 3 winners
In the confined space rescue category, each team of four responded to a fire scenario within a restricted space to rescue one worker stuck at the operations and maintenance site. In the latter one, each team of two used firefighting equipment to navigate obstacles and extinguish a gasoline tray fire.
After an exciting and intense competition, the event was concluded successfully, meeting its objectives with high praise from professional judges. PV GAS SE won the first prize, followed by PV GAS VUNG TAU (2nd prize) and PV GAS CA MAU (3rd prize). There were also five consolation prizes and numerous skill-based awards, along with recognition for supportive cheer teams.
Awarding ceremony to conclude the contest
The aim of this competition was to underscore the importance of regular emergency response training, as the chance for PV GAS units to learn and share experiences and apply them in specific contexts. It also served as a practical test of readiness and the effectiveness of the "four-on-the-spot" response approach (local command, local forces, local resources, and local logistics) to proactively prevent and manage fire and explosion incidents as well as preventing situations from escalating out of control in emergencies.
These initiatives would help PV GAS maintain its smooth firefighting operations, ensuring absolute safety across its facilities and preventing any incidents that might pose risks to production activities.
