PV GAS receives 4th LNG shipment
Petrovietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) successfully received the 4th LNG shipment at Thi Vai LNG Terminal, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. This cargo is expected to help ensure gas supply for electricity generation in Vietnam, meeting increasing demand due to the intense heat of the peak summer season.
With close and professional coordination between PV GAS, relevant units, and authorities, the reception process was carried out safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The Point Fortin LNG vessel was welcomed at buoy ‘0’ at 6:00 am on May 13, 2024, then proceeded with port approach, mooring, and commenced pumping at 3:56 pm on the same day. The operation was completed at 8:00 am on May 14, 2024, with absolute safety for people, property, and the environment.
The Point Fortin vessel carried about 60,000 tons of LNG originating from Bontang port (Indonesia) to Cai Mep port, Ba Ria - Vung Tau. This shipment was imported by PV GAS from a LNG giant - TotalEnergies Gas & Power Asia Private Limited (TEGPA), with the purpose of serving electricity and industrial production needs, ensuring national energy security on entering the dry season of 2024.

Moreover, the cargo was arranged under quite special circumstances. Typically, a spot LNG shipment needs arranging about 60 days before delivery, but this time, the purchasing process was accomplished only 20 days. Subsequently, the receiving schedule was pushed forward by 8 days to meet the urgent requirements of the EVN. This once again affirms PV GAS' pioneering position in the import and supply of LNG in Vietnam.
Up to the present time, PV GAS has imported 4 LNG shipments in total. As the leading flagship in the gas industry of Vietnam, The Corporation commits to continue investing in and developing LNG infrastructure, and enhancing operational efficiency, contributing to making Vietnam a dynamic and developing LNG market in the region.
